Brian Marrs is the Director of Energy Markets at Microsoft, based out of the company’s Redmond, WA headquarters. With more than 10 years of global commercial experience in the energy industry, Brian leads efforts to develop & execute Microsoft’s data center energy strategy. This involves overseeing development of energy infrastructure and evaluating opportunities that support the company’s clean energy goals, including the use of new energy technologies in global markets. He serves on the iMasons Sustainability Committee.
Prior to joining Microsoft in 2017, Brian served as the Director of Policy & Strategy for NRG Energy, one of the largest competitive power companies in the United States. In addition, Brian worked as a power systems economist in the European Union at the German Energy Agency and Vattenfall Europe, and otherwise has extensive consulting experience in quantitative analytics related to international power, oil, and gas markets.
Brian holds graduate degrees in energy economics & policy from Yale University, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia.
